DEFINITION:
The procedure consists of concealing or eliminating small venules, spider veins or telangiectasias by injecting a sclerosing microfoam. There are other techniques for varicose vein removal such as laser treatments or surgery, so you should seek your doctor’s advice on the best one for your particular case.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCESS:
Treatment involves injection of microfoam, which produces an inflammatory reaction inside the vein and clots the blood causing the capillary walls to collapse.
This technique is performed without anaesthesia and on an outpatient basis. The sessions last about 30 minutes and it takes an average of four sessions, depending on the severity of each case.
BEFORE TREATMENT:
The patient should undergo a preliminary assessment and, if necessary, other specific tests such as ultrasound to evaluate their case and determine the most appropriate technique for the treatment of their varicose veins.
Microfoam treatment does not require anaesthesia or preoperative studies. However, if you have a chronic illness or take medication regularly, you must inform the staff before starting treatment.
AFTER TREATMENT:
Varicose vein removal with microfoam, whether they are small spider veins or large varices, allows patients to continue their daily routine immediately after the session. They just need to use compression stockings for a few days.
